Blog Update – Rebranding to DISHYtech
This post may contain affiliate links. See our policy to learn more.
Hello! Colby here. I have an important blog update to share with you.
The blog will be going through a rebranding in the coming weeks. Our name will transition from Starlink Hardware to DISHYtech. Logo’s and social media accounts will also change to reflect the new branding.

What Does This Mean for You?
The current website URL, www.starlinkhardware.com, will redirect to the new URL, www.dishytech.com. Don’t worry, if you have pages from the blog bookmarked, they will continue to work. I’m going to forward all the existing pages to the new URL, so all links to the old blog will still be accessible.
Same blog, new name
While the name of the blog is changing, everything you love about it is staying the same! I still own the blog, and will continue to cover Starlink with updates, helpful guides, and product reviews.
Email newsletter changes
Your subscription to the email newsletter (if signed up) will continue as usual. The sender email address, name, and logo will be different, but you’ll continue to get new posts and other Starlink updates delivered right to your inbox.
It’s a good idea to add [email protected] to your contact list or approved senders so future emails don’t end up in the spam folder.
YouTube and social media changes
I will also be updating the names and branding on all social media platforms. The blog has an associated Facebook page and YouTube channel. The links will be updated when the transition occurs, so previous browser bookmarks might not work.
You will find the updated links on the blog homepage after the transition is complete. The social media links are also at the bottom of every email newsletter.
Why the Change?
When I started the blog back in 2021, I wasn’t thinking about branding or my long term business strategy. I just wanted a place to organize all the Starlink information I was writing about. I landed on the name “Starlink Hardware” because that’s literally what I was writing about. No further thought was put into the name. After all, the blog was just a hobby I was doing in my spare time to help the few thousand Starlink customers that existed at the time. I didn’t think it really mattered back then.
Starlink has grown a lot in the last few years, resulting in more visitors to my blog. But the success has led to two main challenges.
People tend to associate my blog with Starlink/SpaceX
I’ve always been very clear that the blog is an unofficial, fan created resource for Starlink users. But when you have Starlink in your website name, it tends to create confusion. That’s 100% my fault, and rebranding is one way to solve the problem.
The name is confusing to search engines
If you type “starlink hardware” into Google, the blog isn’t the top result. That’s a problem not only for my business, but for readers who are trying to find my content. Again, this is 100% my own doing. Google is confused by what people are actually looking for. Are they searching for Starlink “hardware” like the antenna or mounts? Or are they searching for this small blog with the name “Starlink Hardware”?
Room for growth
Those are the two main reasons, but I’m also interested in growing beyond just covering Starlink in the future. Low Earth orbit satellite internet is a rapidly growing industry. We will continue to see additional companies enter the market, notably Amazon’s Project Kuiper. This will always be a Starlink focused blog, but I plan to cover other services if they eventually get off the ground.
Why DISHYtech?
The “dishy” in DISHYtech is a reference to the nickname that Starlink gives every antenna. It’s also a reference to the official name of the original V1 round antenna, “Dishy McFlatface”. The “tech” in DISHYtech is a reference to the broad topic I am covering, which is technology.

I feel like the name DISHYtech is a nod to my Starlink focus for people in the know, while also leaving me enough room to grow into other low Earth orbit satellite internet services in the future. It’s also a unique name, something that Google won’t mess up when search engine users are looking for my blog.
What’s Next?
The transition from Starlink Hardware to DISHYtech will occur in early February, probably within the first few days of the new month. I recommend signing up to the email newsletter to stay up-to-date on the blog and Starlink. You can also follow me on Facebook and YouTube for the latest information.
Final Thoughts
Although this is a relatively minor change overall, I think this is a new chapter for the blog. A fresh brand brings new excitement. The first few years of writing this blog have been extremely rewarding, and I hope the next few years are even better.
I’d love to hear your feedback on the new name, so leave me a comment below!
Snds good Colby. And thanks for the steady stream of useful information. You are my go-to guy fr help with this technology.
Wes
keep up the good work
why do you not have a contact phone number. I purchased the starlink antenna, but I have no way to contact a customer service if I have problems. I feel thats wrong some of us don’t have the computer skills to navigate through your contact sources. STARLINK should have a phone#
Aren’t you concerned about being confused with the DISH Network? I have STARLINK for internet access but use DISH for my TV services. When I first saw your email, I thought it was coming from DISH. You may want to rethink this.
No, not really. I think sat TV are Starlink are far enough apart that nobody looks at the content I write and assumes I’m affiliated with anything satellite TV.
I have been using Starlink on my boat (west coast of BC, Canada) for the last four years and it has been a real game changer allowing me to get away but stay completely in touch with my various business interests. I just want to thank you for helping me through a number of “yips and oops” over the last four years with your blogs. In my opinion you make Starlink work!
Hope it the same
Yep! Just the name and logo will be changing. Same ownership, same Starlink focus as always!
