Starlink is gearing up for an end-of-year sales push with aggressive pricing cuts. The Standard equipment kit is now just $175, half off the normal price. New customers will also enjoy lower monthly fees for the first year, with internet service starting at $65/month.

One of the biggest barriers to Starlink is the pricey equipment needed to connect to SpaceX’s satellite internet service. Customers typically have to pay hundreds of dollars up front for a dish.

In the last year, Starlink has offered several hardware promotions, aimed at helping customers avoid steep up front costs. The latest effort to attract new sign ups is a 50% off sale for the Standard kit.

Normally $349, the $175 Standard kit offer applies to new and existing customers. The hardware deal is available on most monthly service plans, including Residential and Roam. Residential is Starlink’s home internet service, while the Roam service plan is intended for RV’s and other mobile use cases.

The offer is available on Starlink.com, as well as from 3rd party retailers like Best Buy, Home Depot, and Walmart.

New Starlink customers in select areas will also enjoy lower monthly service prices for one year. In areas with excess network capacity, the Residential plan now starts at $99/month, down from $120. Residential Lite is now $65/month, down from $80.

“In select countries, new Starlink customers can receive 12-months of discounted service when signing up for Starlink,” according to an article on the Starlink website. “The 12-month promotional period will begin on the activation date of your Starlink kit. After the first 12-months of discounted service, service plan pricing will be subject nominal pricing.”

Combining both promotions, new customers can save up to $427 in the first year.

The discounted service promotion does include some restrictions. “This offer is only valid for new customers,” SpaceX says. “Discount will only apply to one service line. Customers who change their service plan to a non-eligible service plan, cancel their service, or are suspended, will lose their promotional pricing.”

The push for new subscribers comes after SpaceX recently revealed that Starlink grew by over 2.7 million customers worldwide in the last year. Starlink now serves more than 6 million customers globally. In the United States, Starlink serves over 2 million customers, up 40% from this time last year.

Starlink network performance is also increasing, even with all of the new subscribers added in the last year. Starlink says the US median download speed during peak usage hours is over 180 Mbps as of July 2025. Median latency is now below 25 milliseconds.

SpaceX has launched over 8,000 Starlink satellites since 2019, with 2,300 satellites deployed in the last year alone. SpaceX attributes the network performance improvements to the additional deployments and the updated satellite designs. Starlink is currently on their third satellite iteration, the V2 Mini. A brand new V3 satellite is expected to debut soon, dependent on SpaceX’s Starship launch vehicle.

  1. I know its only been 2 days since this post about slashing prices…… but, as of today (sun 9/14) the website now shows HUGE price increases. Roaming is now going to $220/mo and residential to $159/mo. also looks like “some areas” have discounted equipment (for residential only now), the regular price has been raised from $175 to $320 now.

      1. And……. scratch that…… hours later the website is back to “regular” pricing (not the higher pricing it showed earlier) Hopefully it will stay that way…..

  2. I’ve been a customer for at least 4 year’s now( Great service) waited almost 5 month’s for equipment( $500 I believe for the dish)and been paying $120 a mo.ever since.i feel left out as I was one of starlinks first customers..no discounts at all for us huh..i live very remote, and now, so many ppl around me have ur service. They paid half what I paid for equipment and no 5 month wait. I’d like to see a discount, but looks like us 1st customers are being forgotten.

  3. Hi Colby,
Like everyone else, just received the pause email from Starlink. If I let them cancel my paused line, how difficult is it to reconnect the line when I need it. I do not anticipate needing this roam unlimited line until I go on vacation next summer. I have another residential line which will remain active.
    TIA
    Don Techen

  4. Probably next year this time the new performance kit will be 50% off. I got the mini a month ago with $100 and this 50% off of standard is great. I think they are trying to lure many customers as possible before Amazon start introducing their dishes.
