Huge discount on Starlink kits until October 5th

Starlink deals are heating up yet again this summer. Following several other recent promotions, the latest discount is probably the best deal yet. Starlink has marked down their latest generation hardware from $499 to $299 throughout all of the United States.

The deals aren’t limited to just the US. In Canada, the Gen 2 Actuated hardware is $400 off in some locations. You can get a brand new kit for just $99, which is Starlink’s lowest hardware price ever. In other parts of Canada, Starlink is running a deal on refurbished kits.

Unlike previous discount programs, this one doesn’t have as many restrictions. Past promotions were limited to select US states, but this one is available everywhere. Because of the national availability, 3rd party retailers are also getting in on the action. Retailers like Home Depot are matching the sale price of $299. You might be able to find a discounted kit in stock at your local store without waiting on shipping from Starlink.

In addition to the wider availability, the hardware discount is also available on any Starlink service plan. Previous promotions were limited to just the Residential plan, but there are no restrictions this time. The hardware discount is applied on Residential, Roam, and even Business orders.

In some parts of the US, the deal gets even better. Starlink is applying a $100 service credit to new Residential subscriptions in select areas. The “Regional Savings” credit is for areas with excess network capacity. The one-time bill credit is only available for the Residential plan, and has some other restrictions. For example, you can’t change your service address or plan for 6 months, otherwise you’ll be billed for the credit.

If you’ve been wanting to purchase another Starlink for your RV, or maybe upgrade your existing system, now is the best time to do it. Not only is this the cheapest price ever for brand new kits in the US, there aren’t any restrictions to worry about. Don’t wait too long, though. Starlink says the current promotion will last until October 5th.

To get this deal, head over to Starlink.com and enter your address to check on Residential prices in your area. For Roam or Business orders, click on the appropriate menu item from the main Starlink page. Any available discounts will be automatically applied during checkout. You don’t need any coupon codes or anything like that.

I can only speculate as to why Starlink is running so many promotions this year. I can barely keep track of them all. Starlink has been trying various schemes to lower costs for potential customers. In California, for example, they are allowing people to pay for the equipment in monthly installments instead of a large upfront cost. They’ve also done promotions on refurbished kits, service credits, and other types of deals.

Without any real competition in the low Earth orbit satellite internet market, Starlink must be trying to keep pace with their growth in previous years. From late 2020 to May 2024, Starlink claims to have added over 3 million customers. They quickly became the largest satellite internet company in the US. Starlink was projected to be SpaceX’s largest revenue source in 2024, and it’s a big part of SpaceX’s plans to fund missions to Mars.

  1. I am running a gen 2 system. I’m wondering if I purchased this new gen3 kit would I be able to add just the new gen 3 router to my existing system and put the dish in storage. It would upgrade the gen2 and give me some backup in case of failure

  2. How about the family plan I’ve been hearing about? Can you buy an additional kit to add to your existing account for say a family member or an RV so you don’t have to take your equipment from your home that allows you to monitor essential functions at your home while you’re traveling?

    1. I haven’t seen any details or invitations go out for the family plan. It’s my understanding that the family plan is for multiple Residential service lines. I don’t believe the travel plans like Roam would be included.

  4. What about if purchased 3rd party but service address is in the Dominican Republic when enabled, would discounts apply?

    1. If you buy from a 3rd party in the US where the sale is happening, you can activate it on a plan in another country. The discount is reflected in the purchase price so you could get the discount and then use the dish however you like.
